Coalville Town 2 - 5 Lutterworth Town Juniors
This isn't a milestone game or anything; just an interesting one.
When I got to the ground the pitch was very hard and unplayable at that time. However, in the 10 minutes I was there it was improving considerably therefore I waited and by 10.30 it was playable. The first half went by all ok and it was 3-0 to Lutterworth. In the second half there was this particular player from Lutterworth who, when I stopped play as he was offside, was content with kicking the ball away. I'd already warned his team mates and so after calling him off and publicly warning him about doing it again, I cautioned him when he continued to kick it away. His manager then subbed him off.
With the score still at 3-0, I waved away two penalty shouts for Coalville and both times I was no more than 3 yards away so I had great view and they were just good tackles (shame the Coalville 'fans' didn't see it that way). A minute or so later, though, a Lutterworth player is one on one and then the defender comes running up the side of him and, although he'll claim it was a shoulder barge, used his arm to push the player away making him mess up his shot; penalty awarded and converted. Soon after the linesman of Lutterworth called me over saying he was unhappy with the conduct of the Coalville parents behind him, which caused an argument, and the game was delayed for about 5 minutes whilst I sorted it out. This was the last of an eventful second half, other than Coalville scoring two very late goals but to no avail.
